Pitched as Europe's leading Patchwork and Quilting show, Festival of Quilts #FOQ is held annually at Birmingham's NEC in the UK.
Here we are embarking on our little adventure.
Having never been to this show before you can see we were pretty excited. "Let us in!"
Seen here on the right Derryth teaches Patchwork at Stitch Studio and hosts our monthly Quilt Club.
With over 700 Competition Quilts on display Festival of Quilts also plays host to gallery tours, craft workshops, demonstrations and not to mention the fabric and haberdashery stalls. We were in our element.
Walking around this show we were blown away by the quality of work and the hours that have gone into each piece was awe inspiring.
I can see why some people get a weekend pass for this show as its a lot to take in in just one day.
Here's a selection of our favourites finds:
My particular favourite! Non traditional / mixed techniques
Just look at the detail! I could get lost in this picture.
84 The International Facebook Beginners Quilt Support Group
HM Queen's 90th Birthday
I can see a Rainbow
This one has us captivated as you couldn't quite make out the picture until you stood back and then it hit you.
How clever! (Photo doesn't do it justice)
Good enough to Eat!
We loved these little fussy cut frames.
A nice way to isolate a favourite image or detail on kids clothing!
Oh Bobbins!
Clever Landscape panels
Quilt by Bridgette Morganroth see more here www.morgenroth-quilts.de
A favourite of Derryths! Triangular Logo Cabin blocks
This Log cabin was made with tiny strips (see close up detail) the effect is awesome.
And of course we had to have a little go on the Long Arm Quilting machine!
This model is an APQS called Millie and costs around £8,000. It works freehand or using a digital program.
I had to drag Dee away!
There are cheaper alternatives that work with your domestic machine see here we found a company called Cotton Orchard
After a long day of walking around we really needed a sit down.
But not on this chair! How could you sit on this masterpiece...
